In 2020, Matt Peters partnered with Jason Oppenheim to lead The Oppenheim Group’s expansion into Orange County, where he played a pivotal role in building the team, establishing a strong brand presence, and driving early market momentum in what was then a relatively new region for the firm. Following the outstanding success of this venture, he continued the company’s strategic growth in 2022 by launching and developing the La Jolla office in San Diego.
Matt is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he played running back for the California Golden Bears. He holds an MBA from Columbia Business School in New York and also earned an MBA from the London Business School, reflecting his global academic foundation in business and finance.
Before transitioning to real estate, Matt was an International Equities Trader with Allianz Global Investors in San Francisco. In this role, he managed a multi-billion-dollar international derivatives trading operation, overseeing risk management, execution, and strategic positioning across European and Asian markets. He later spent several years in investment banking, focusing on mergers and acquisitions, with a specialization in technology-sector transactions.
Matt’s extensive background in finance and global investment strategy gives him a distinctive edge in navigating complex real estate deals, allowing him to offer clients a sophisticated, strategic approach to their most important transactions. As Managing Broker of both the Orange County and San Diego Offices, Matt has recruited, mentored, and led top-performing agents, overseeing all operations and propelling the offices to over $1 billion in combined sales volume, a significant achievement, particularly in new and highly competitive markets.
